Home Base in Blacksburg

For most of the weekend we have been enjoying Blacksburg and the hospitality of the Coopers.  It has been chilly and rainy since our arrival, so we have been happy to sleep upstairs on the third floor, leaving the camper vacant for the moment.  It needs a couple things before it will be comfortably habitable, like propane connections and some new sealant.  Also, I was concerned to find the batteries completely drained yesterday when they should have been just about completely charged after our drive from Virginia Beach, so I am attempting to recharge them as I type.  We are working out some kinks and running some errands before leaving town in a couple days.

In the meantime, we have been eating lots of chocolate mint cheesecake (not the dogs, don’t worry, Bev), going to Pandapas Pond, and visiting friends.  Also, Saturday night Kristie and I went to see chamber music at Tech!

Jack and Patrick play rough in the backyard.  Note Patrick’s teeny weeny football in his right hand.

  1. Whew! Much as Angus likes all things chocolate and all things cheese, I’m glad you held firm! I would guess the 3rd floor room would not have been as available if he was in post-binge mode.

Kenny PoPo misses his tag team pack, as do the support staff.

  2. Hey! Glad to see that the epic adventure is underway — and that you’ve got the opportunity to work out the kinks with a comfy place to sleep. Bon voyage, and hi to the Coopers for us 🙂
